
About Us
Transylvania County Rescue Squad is a non-profit emergency service agency providing technical rescue and emergency medical response services to the citizens of Transylvania County, North Carolina and visitors of Pisgah National Forest. Founded in 1961, the squad has rescue technicians, EMTs, paramedics, and caring individuals devoted to serving and supporting to our community. We rely on donations, grants, and community support to fund our work.
What We Do

Wilderness Search and Rescue
Operating in the rugged terrain of Pisgah National Forest, our team specializes in locating and assisting lost, injured, or stranded individuals.

Medical Emergency Response
We provide ambulance coverage and support to Transylvania County EMS and assist neighboring agencies with emergency medical services when needed.

Swiftwater Rescue
Our team responds to water emergencies across Transylvania County providing rescue during swiftwater flood conditions.

Technical Rescue
We specialize in vehicle extrication, confined space rescues, and other complex emergencies, ensuring safe and effective response in challenging situations.

High Angle Rescue
Our team is trained to respond to emergencies in steep or elevated terrain, providing safe and efficient rescue in high-angle situations such as cliffs, mountains, and towers.

Event Standby & Support
